| Krishna | 9 | | | I played this cute little push-your-luck game with some of my music students, who were between 5 and 9 at the time. The five-year-olds had a little bit of trouble grasping the strategy of when to jump out and when to stay in the basket, but enjoyed it nonetheless. The vibrant colors and light-hearted theme make for a fun experience to play with kids. Also recommended because adults will enjoy playing, too, so it's not like you'll be bored out of your skull playing, as with so many inferior kids' games. |
| boltongeordie | 8 | 8 | Yes | Fantastic game for adults and my 6 and 8 year old love it too, perhaps more so than Diamant which is a similar 'push your luck' game.
However, the big difference between this and Diamant is that whether you move on or go back to the start depend on whether the player who is 'pilot' has the right cards in their hand. This means there is an added bluff/memory element to the decision each round - last time X was pilot he couldn't make a red and a yellow, can he make two yellows this time...
Because of this I have put 8 as the minimum age (and that may be a little on the low side) because children often find it hard to bluff. My 6 year old has a tendency to give away whether he can pilot the ballooon higher as soon as the dice are rolled and before the rest of us decide to stay or go. Even my 8 year old occasionally lets something slip. |
| cagriggs | 8 | 5 | Yes | A f un little push-your-luck game. I've had success playing this with my five-year-old and his friends when they come over. The game play is simple and there are decisions to make that kids can handle well. |
| cindy | 8 | 7 | Yes | Fun press-your-luck game that our family has enjoyed for years. This game is one that all the children will agree to play. Highly recommended |
| davebo | 8 | | | Nice game. Easy to teach, and exciting. Watch out if you have moody kids, though, it can be frustrating to lose. Not much opportunity to catch up once you are behind. |
| Gecko23 | 8 | | | A great push-your-luck game that the kids and I enjoy equally. Plus the components of the most recent edition are tough and kid friendly. |
| Germarish | 8 | | | Lots of fun in a very small box. Cloud 9 is always good for some friendly yelling and laughing. Very good push your luck game. Top notch components too. |
| jeremycobert | 8 | | | Fun game! The students at my wifes school love this game. They like the cute components---cute little basket, balloon dice, and colorful cards. They like the being in charge of piloting the balloon and trying to trick the others that they have what it takes to keep the balloon traveling. It is a quick game to play. Adults may like it too for a quick filler. It is a game that is easy to pick up on and kids are even able to reteach this game after playing it once. |
| laraberrycross | 8 | 5 | Yes | Kids tend to stay in the balloon too long, but sometimes it pays off! |
| prophx | 8 | 6 | Yes | Push your luck with some fun mechanics and playing pieces. The kids are really attracted to the balloon basket and moving it up the board. The biggest drawback is if one of the kids never jumps out each turn... basically the pilot never gains points. |
| Admiral Fisher | 7 | | | Younger children are likely to miss the subtleties of this, but enjoy the ride anyway. From age 7 and up, it can work very well. Really it is more of a game for a group of adults having a "pizza and wine night." |
| shawndumas | 7 | 7 | Yes | Pre-teens and teens are likely to enjoy. No half naked women, gore, cursing, or morbidity. |
| shumyum | 7 | | | My kids have no interest in playing strategically, but they DO love it. A nice introduction to card games. |

| Yollege | 6 | 7 | Some | Worked well for my 8 yr old, but he wanted to hold on too long EVERY time. He tends to play the huge risk, high reward version :). |
