fuzzyfife108Yes Fun family game
luwies.mum10  Not only is this a really fun game, it is great for developing numerous skills such as visual-spatial reasoning and the ability to think and plan ahead. This is also a good game for practicing mathematical skills (multiplication and addition) - teach your children to count their completed cities in multiples of 2 and add their scores in their heads without counting them out on the scoring track (use the scoring track to confirm their calculations after they have first done them in their heads). This game is also a great way to develop multi-tasking abilities as they must keep track of their 7 followers at one time and learn to budget their use of their followers. For example, you may want to teach them not to impulsively use up all their followers on the first opportunity that crops up, but rather save at least one or two for a truly needful or opportune moment. This may be tied in with money-management techniques. The concept of the farmers may be a little complex for some younger children, but should not be impossible if explaned to them in simple but clear enough terms (the diagrams in the rule booklet are very helpful). For younger children who cannot yet grasp the farmer concept, this can still serve as a fun and puzzle to develop creative, artistic, logical, visual & reasoning abilities. All in all, I belive this to be a great game for all ages. Grownups can enjoy it as much as (if not more than) the children, making this a great family game.
shawndumas105Yes With some rule changes this can be a great small kids game. Pre-teens and teens will like it. My kids (4 and 6) really like this game. No half naked women, gore, cursing, or morbidity.
spearjr10  Kids will get a kick out of playing this game. They enjoy the puzzle like tile matching and the rules (aside from Farmer scoring) is easy for them to pick up.
Thommy810  One of the very best games out there to play with kids. You can vary the rules to accomodate any age, by excluding farms, or including expansions for older kids. The connection of cities and roads should be very easy to grasp for young children, and you could even play it cooperatively like a puzzle for very young ones. As close to a perfect game as you will find!
bane22197Yes I put a younger rating because dropping the farmers would make this a fantastic kids game for spatial understanding.
Ed the Red9  We started playing this with the children when they were about 4 - we use all the rules except farmers and play relatively nicely (played with adults it can be viscious but that's another story). Children who are good at pattern matching (jigsaws etc) will enjoy this, and they seem to get a kick out of building up a really big city or long road. Because the playing experience is good (and the resulting game board is pleasing to look at) they don't seem to mind if they win or not, though with added pleasure when they do beat Daddy. I've taught it to 6 year olds in 5 minutes and they have understood the rules perfectly well, so (except for farmers which I agree are more complicated) the stated age range starts too high. I will introduce farmers at age 7 or 8 I think and see how they get on.
fortgary98Yes While the game can be played by just about any age group with a slight modification to the rules, I think anyone from the 8 and up age groups should be able to do well at this game which will teach many different types of strategies including the take that type element.
fullerbd9  biggest sucess so far with my son, he plays with it as a toy when we are not playing the game and has become quite good at the computer version
gaharoni9  Fantastic game. The farmer aspect helps the kids understand the difference between short and long-time goals.

Larry Welborn96Yes Fun game to play with kids. Kids seem to really enjoy watching the board develop.
petegrey9  Excellent game for kids. Anywhere from 8-10 and up. This is a great game for kids to play with each other, and with their parents.

queequeg97Yes My five year old daughter calls this the puzzle game . We play a couple of variants of this one, her current favorite involves rewarding you for completing cities rather than having a knight in a city as it is completed. Given the modifications that have to be made to play this one, I would say that 7 or 8 is just about the right age for this one. The game is very good for developing problem solving skills. Each turn you draw a tile and you have to fit it into the ever changing and growing landscape. A definite winner.

toupsz9  A fun game for any age. Has the advantage of being scalable for age: just match the tiles when little, then use meeples sans farmers, then the full rules.
