| Shade_Jon | 10 | | | An absolute classic for kids, which all kids should learn. |

| pikkusiili2000 | 9 | 5 | Some | Definitely a must for any child. |
| slapdash | 9 | 8 | Yes | Playable, but difficult to appreciate, by younger kids. Classic that all kids should learn to play. |
| Thommy8 | 9 | | | Fantastic game for kids. Great introduction to a real strategy game with no luck, but it still has simple enough rules for young ones to begin to grasp. Plus transitioning from checkers on a chess board to chess on a chess board should be facilitated by introducing them to this first. |
| erik2point0 | 8 | | | This is such a foundational game. I think it is fantastic. That said, my boys have different opinions on the game. I think they like it better without the "you must jump if you can" rule, while I insist on it. |
| gaharoni | 8 | | | Great for kids. Super-Simple rules, plenty of thinking. |
| Germarish | 8 | | | One of the classic classics. Everyone nows how to play. But some need to be reminded that if you can jump, you must, you must! |
| maksum | 8 | | | A classic. Very good game to introduce children to abstract strategy games where they have to learn and keep track of some basic rules and pay attention to how pieces are placed and moved spacially in relation to their own peices and those of the opponents. Also teaches cause and effect, and how choices that initially seem advantageous can ultimates be poor decisions. For example, you can move into a spot where you can jump a piece, but that will set you up to be jumped twice. Great game for kids. |
| petegrey | 8 | | | Classic game for kids! No child should leave 3rd grade without knowing this game. A good game for kids to play with adults too. |
| shumyum | 8 | | | My son (5 y.o.) LOVES it. His twin sister is not so keen. |
| mcross | 7 | 6 | Some | Easy to learn, can be fun, but most kids aren't into abstracts. |
| merkle | 7 | | | Checkers may not be the deepest abstract game--but its also among the simplest to teach to kids. That said---my family never really played checkers. Nor were my kids overly excited by it. We play it--but not often . |
| prophx | 7 | 5 | Yes | The first game I taught my daughter and we come back to it fairly often. Simple, but challenging for any age. |
| spearjr | 7 | | | A good game for kids, with a number of decisions and it is easy for them to grasp the objective. I had lot of fun playing this as a child. |
| boltongeordie | 6 | 10 | Yes | Draughts is a great game but children will really struggle with planning many moves ahead and this is essential with 'huffing' (the forced takes) - it is not much of a game without. Probably better with adults or older children. |

| flowerkin | 6 | | | My oldest is almost 6 and I don't think she likes this game so much. It is a classic and great abstract, but she likes zertz so much better. |
