Meat105Yes Great game for all ages. A bit 'chess like', but more accessible for youngsters. Awesome pieces, and easily portable. My son loves this, especially when he wins. Have been playing this with him since he was 5.
Yokiboy108Yes This is an amazing abstract game that works well with children as well as adults. I have personal experience with 8-year olds playing Hive, and having tons of fun. This is a game that's played a lot in my home.
brafman9  Great portable, durable, replayable strategy game for older kids (probably best for 9 and up but playable for a 7 year old) and adults. Someone who likes chess would like this game (though its lighter than chess).
Gecko239  Another accessible, but not trival, strategy game for the 8+ kids. My middle daughter loves this game, and occassionally beats me at it.
gwen9  My 9 yo beats me quite often with this one ! He likes the look and the sound of the pieces as much as I do. Simple rules, short playing time, portability, language independent , ... This game has it all.
TGov96Yes Wonderful game that is easy for young children to memorize the rules to.
duchamp88Yes Nice quick game for some break or to take along at a picnic ...
spearjr88Yes Seemed to work well with my 9yr old 2nd cousin. He liked the bugs and the unusual piece movement.
Thies87Yes Kids love the bakelite pieces, which are visually and tactually appealing. Requires similar thinking to chess, but easier to learn and much quicker to play. My 7 year old can grasp it and be competitive with adults. I wouldn't try it any younger than that, though.
clandaith75Yes Great easy game for kids to play. The young ones can understand what is going on and actually play some strategy for the game.
erik2point078Yes My kids like to play this with me, but they have never asked to simply play it with each other. They enjoy it, but it is not their favorite by a long shot.
Shade_Jon7  Might be hard for some kids, but those who get it will enjoy it. Bug theme is cool, too.
shawndumas713Yes Great components! Teens will love it. No half naked women, gore, cursing, or morbidity.
davebo6  I think this is too much of an abstract for kids.
Germarish5  My 5 for kids. An 8 for adults. Too much of an abstract for the little ones. I would not really recommend Hive for anyone not yet in thier teens.
laraberrycross59Some The bugs are cool, but gameplay seems too repetitive.
SoLove5  Played with my eldest son, but he still has trouble visualising the best moves.
