| cokasaki | 9 | | | A great game that can be lightly with kids as young as 4 or 5, and with more seriousness as they get older. However, when playing with the very young, it helps to remove a tile to make the game shorter, and possibly one piece per player as well (or maybe only one piece from the kids). |

| Mark | 9 | 6 | Yes | I have played this once with kids - with a group that included 5, 6, 8, and 10 year olds. They enjoyed it a lot, but with the full 5 players it was a pretty long game, for the first learning game anyway. Doing it over again, I would have removed one or two tunnel segments. |
| queequeg | 9 | 6 | Some | This game is much more than an advanced version of Candyland. I listed the minimum age as 6 because you can play variants of this game with younger kids than the recommended 8 year old minimum. The pirates are nice dyed wood, the tiles are sturdy, and the cards are a good size for smaller hands. |
| The Unbeliever | 9 | 6 | Yes | We play with hands revealed with kids, so that other people can make suggestions. |
| 1wif | 8 | 5 | Yes | A fun game that has simple enough mechanics that my 5 year old can play. We reduce her number of pirates so that I am greatly handicapped, but we both enjoy it. |

| moakm | 8 | | | Another favorite that kids can pick up and play fairly easily. My six year olds can play and like the game. They do not get into the strategy involved, but love playing their cards and moving their pirates into the boat. Another good game to play with the younger set. |
| wkusau | 8 | 6 | Some | Some will enjoy it, other not. I like the idea of playing with open hands. You at least have choices to make. That is what makes it a game. |
| Admiral Fisher | 7 | | | Both of my boys have enjoyed this, though the youngest (only 4) needed some help with it. It is quite a good game for cvhildren, but I would not put it in a top batch for any age group. |
| Ed the Red | 7 | 8 | Yes | Good, fairly light, game which you take more seriously (with adults or older kids) or less so - e.g. just trying to move your pieces as far as you can each turn without thinking of the strategy of getting them all home. Although the theme is an engaging one, it feels very abstract to play. |
| Germarish | 7 | | | This should be in every house with young kids. Fun and easy to play. My kids really enjoy it. The Pirate theme keeps helps thier interest also. Highly recommend this one |
| sandys | 7 | 6 | Yes | I play this with my 3 boys, ages 5, 12, and 15. My 5-year-old plays this fine with a little bit of help and my oldest son and I enjoyed it. My 12-year-old, though, can't stand it, says it moves way too slow. |
| sevorges | 7 | | | This game is good but I have had trouble keeping kids interested. It is quite tricky to play well and kids just do not get it. It really is a bit too abstract as the theme is truly just a basis for graphics. |
| sosullivan | 7 | | | Pretty good game for kids - easy to understand, nice theme. You may want to play with one less pawn for those who like shorter games, though. |
| shumyum | 6 | | | My neices (9 and 11) enjoyed it alright. The rules are certainly easy to follow. Maybe not as engaging as you would think from a pirate game. It is a little long. |
| boltongeordie | 5 | 12 | Yes | I really would not recommend this for kids. The forward planning is simply too strenuous for any child under 10 and the pirate theme cant save it from that. Great for adults though! |
| davebo | 5 | | | I like this game a lot, but the kids did not. I think it is because the logic is too difficult. But they like Hare and the Tortoise though, go figure. |
