| filovirus | 8 | 2 | Some | My two year old son loves this game. It teaches colors, numbers, and putting the two together. It is fairly quick (5-10 mins) and lasts 2-3 rounds before my son gets bored. |
| GelatinousGoo | 8 | 2 | Some | My daughter doesn't quite get the idea that you are not the snail, rather you pick the snail you think will win. She assumes it's like other games where each picks a color and tries to win with it. Therefore, she has a tough time when someone tries to pick the same snail she picked. Other than that, we have alot of fun with it |
| Jatoha | 8 | | | Maybe the perfect first games. Teaches gaming concepts, but takes the sting out of losing since its the snail that loses, not you. |
| skrebs | 8 | | | My three year old recently started to play this as an actual game and loves moving the snails (and she can now move them the appropriate spaces!). She learned how to take turns from this game. |
| Yollege | 8 | 2 | No | Probably my favorite game for kids under 4. After that though, they tend to get bored. A great starter for new little gamers. |
| 1wif | 7 | 3 | Some | We have a lot of fun with this one. It's all in the cheering! |
| chaddyboy_2000 | 7 | | | My niece who is just learning to count loves to play this. There really is no winner as the snails are the ones winning and losing, so its great to play with kids that tantrum when they lose. Also great for teaching how to take turns (rolling the dice). |
| fluffdaddy | 7 | | | This came too late for our first son (we got it when he was 4) but it is working out as a perfect first game for our second son (who is 1 1/2). He rolls the dice & moves the snails around. We have just started working on taking turns... and this is a great game to introduce that concept. |
| HappyProle | 7 | 2 | No | Starting playing this at 2 years with my daughter. She's starting to grasp the concept of which snail is going to win? and it's certainly good for matching colors, but I think this game is just a little beyond her right now. I'm leaving my rating at 7 and I'll put the minimum age at 2, though I think it's probably closer to 3.
This game can be quite tedious, so I wouldn't imagine any adult would enjoy it especially. |
| klarkin | 7 | 2 | No | Can be fun for a kids 1st or 2nd game, but gets tiresome quickly for grown-ups. Roll dice, move snails, roll dice, move snails. In a limited way, predicting winners and losers after a certain amount of time engages kids mentally, but at that age they can have such limited attention that no matter which snail wins, they think it is the one they picked (or they change their picks as the snails close in on the finish line). |
| pmboos | 7 | | | My son likes this, but he is only now catching on that the snails win and lose and that ios a betting game. This is sort of an advanced concept in ways for kids. I like the fact that it does not have winners and losers for kids at this age though. |
| shawndumas | 7 | 3 | Some | It's HABA which means great game bits! Good kids game. Pre-teens and teens are not likely to enjoy. No half naked women, gore, cursing, or morbidity. |
| snoweel | 7 | | | Good for very young kids (2-3). There is some suspense in the snail race, but no player is a winner or a loser. No decisions. |
| Randy Cox | 6 | 4 | Some | Never really took off with our kids (still just 3 and 2). Maybe in a year or so they will follow the letter of the law and move only the snails showing on the dice. |
| Sheylon | 6 | | | I wonderful game for the very young since it is not competitive but they will tire of it shortly thereafter |
| Ed the Red | 5 | | | The rules are a bit vague, but good for teaching skills like rolling dice, taking turns etc with some nice pieces. We tend to let each player choose one or two snails to be theirs, to see who wins - the concept that you have to move pieces which aren't your own is another good concept. Not bad for a 'roll the dice and see who wins' game. |
| guantanamo | 5 | 6 | Some | |
| RPardoe | 5 | 2 | No | Good introduction to gaming concepts such as taking turns and the interaction between the die and movement. Nice large pieces are easy to grab and to mobe. But game can drag especially towards the end and children will rapidly outgrow this. Probably best for 2-3 and not much older then that. (Only a parent will enjoy playing this game with kids....others will be bored by the lack of decisions in the game.) |
| chrisndennis | 4 | | | Dull, even for the kids after they have played it a few times. |
| m_hamburg | 4 | | | This game never really grabbed my daughter (now 3.5, was barely two when we started playing). By the time she was able to play by the rules, she had moved on to other games that she found more fun. |
