fsumarc97Yes No doubt it's a Knizia game. You'll know it the minute you read the scoring. Anyway, it's a simple card game of placing colored potions into pots. The potion cards have numbers. Whoever takes a pot over 13 must take all cards from the pot. This can be good. it can also be bad because you are only allowed to score potions that you have the most of. There are also poison cards that will subtract from your score. It is easy to teach and the artwork is very nice and colorful. many games of this have been played in our house.
presbycat96Yes This game is great for family time around the kitchen table. My kids (even my 6 yo's) seem to appreciate the simplicity of the math, and it is great to see them exhibit brainwork as they count on their fingers, etc. The colors are very distinct; nice production value too. The cauldrons make it seem like more than just a card game, giving the game an added visual (and tactical) appeal. Scoring rules are not too difficult either. A great alternative to the regular UNO standby for relaxed round-the-table fun. It's interesting that there might be a re-theming of this, because I really like this one.
Yollege87Yes Have had fun playing this with my son. As long as they can add to 13, they can play the game. Might not always use the best strategy, but can play.
cagriggs75Yes Simple and fun game that any child can play once they can add up to 13. The scoring can be a bit confusing, especially when it comes to trying to take the most of one color. I've found it's hard for my son to both not take cards and take cards, so we just play that all cards a player takes are worth one point, except the poison, which is worth 2. My sons like the theme a lot.

CDRodeffer68Some Poison is a very simple anti-trick taking game, roughly in the same family as Hearts. Overproduction and overpricing aside, it's a decent game for teaching kids about avoiding bad stuff by planning ahead, and an OK party game for teens. There's also some potential for take that in the game, but hands go by quickly and it's not a game to play seriously. I give an age floor of 8 as an estimate for when average kids are ready for trick taking / anti-trick taking games.
Norwood68Some I'm not crazy about this game. Even with kids, it's a little boring - even with the overproduced cauldrons that you play onto. The give-away strategy is a little hard to grasp for younger children, but they can parcipitate as long as they can count to 13. Overall, kind of meh .
