metalface131014Yes Kids will have a blast pretending to be wizards and warriors on heroic quests through dangerous dungeons. Descent offers lots challenges in planning tactics and managing resources. Players as the overlord get to practice their cunning. Kids younger than 14 could definitley play this game with adults, but a kids only game would probably played with ages 14 and up.
corross88 I've played this with my kids (ages 8 and almost 6), and we've all really enjoyed it. I play the overlord, and my minimum age recommendation is based on the children playing a hero character -- I think most kids wouldn't be able to play the overlord until they were 10 or so. I like that the game is cooperative among the heroes (i.e., my children); also, I like that I have the ability as the overlord to modulate the difficulty level in a way that keeps it challenging for them but still fun (i.e., I don't stomp them into the dungeon floor, even if I could).

fsumarc88Yes A great fantasy dungeon delving game. My 7 year old plays it (and loves it) but has a hard time sitting still for a game this long. Once they have played for a bit they get the mechanics down. It is actually fairly simple and being that it is team cooperative versus one bad guy it works well. Our games are always me (dad) playing as the evil boss controlling the monsters and mom and both daughters all working together to battle them and gather the treasure. There is some artwork that may be too much for some sensitive folks. Monster figures and cards as well as some slightly revealing female artwork on cards. (see just about any fantasy artwork where women apparently enjoyed battling it out in a leather thong bikini). Great fun but a bit of a time investment. If you have a table that can stay utilized for a while the game could span a few days worth of sessions.
Gecko2389Some This is a real kid magnet around the house, the minis, the maps, etc. And its a fine dungeon crawling game on its own. The youngest players will either need a lot of help, figuring the results of combat rolls and modifiers, text on most of the cards, etc, and might not be willing to sit through 2-3+ hours of playtime.
Marky_marc88Yes Minimum age is for the hero character, in order to be the overlord one must have a much greater understanding of the game. Excellent pieces though and a great game.

sigmazero1389Yes The rules are fairly simple, once learned. There are some complexities, but tend not to be used too often so you can ease into them if needed. The Overlord needs pretty good reading comprehension. The other players do to, but not to the same degree, as all their information is public, so others can help them. A good, engaging adventure game, nice hack-and-slash. Maybe a little long, but if kept engaged, it won't seem like it.
The Unbeliever87Yes A little too long to keep the younger ones' attention the whole way through.
wererat812Yes
Bosaiya78Yes Way too many dice and randomness with little strategy, but a lot of fun in terms of running around and killing things. The card-game aspect appeals to the kids.
Scammer77Yes Played a stripped down version with my youngest (6 years old). He caught on very quickly and loved the monsters vs hero aspect. Best of all, we play it with his older (15 year old) brother, so the co-operative aspect really comes into play. It's great to see the brothers, who normally are at each others throats, combining their resources to kick the overlord's (my) butt! I can't wait to un-strip the game and show him all the features. Another bonus is that it's REALLY helping the basic math skills. Counting up the range, then the total of the dice, his really helping his math.
