| 122norfolk | 8 | 10 | Yes | This game will appeal to children who enjoy abstract strategy. There is very little luck. The board and pieces are beautiful and the gameplay is relatively simple but elegant. |
| laraberrycross | 8 | 11 | Yes | Scoring is a little tricky, but the pieces are cool and the game is great. |
| shawndumas | 8 | 10 | | Only for the smartest and most focused of pre-teens. Teens will have no trouble and are likely to enjoy. No half naked women, gore, cursing, or morbidity. |
| erik2point0 | 7 | 10 | Yes | My 10 year old suprised me by coming home one day to ask to play this with me as his friend owned it and had taught him to play. I pretty much demolished him, but he did enjoy it, and wants to play again. This is one of my favorite games of all time, and the idea that he wants to play it really pleases me. |
| ERPriest | 7 | 10 | | I love this game a lot and would rank it 9 or 10 for adults. Samurai however is a bit of a brain burner that requires flexible tactics to react to the ever-changing board, especially if you are playing with three or four players. The quirky scoring system is also a little challenging to understand and plan for. As such, this is probably best with teens or adults, though may appeal to bright younger children who like this kind of game. Hence the rating of 7 for kids. |
| Mark | 7 | 9 | Yes | Fairly abstract, beautiful board and pieces. Kids who enjoy strategy games like chess may like this one. |
| The Unbeliever | 7 | 10 | Yes | Dry, but still appeals to the kids. |
