| efreeman | 10 | 2 | No | My son liked this game at 2.75 yrs old. With guidance he can play by the complete rules, but still doesn't quite grasp the winning and losing conditions. Occasionally requests it. 6/19/07 update: My son enjoys this even more at 3 yrs old. A big hit when his cousins (almost 3 and 5) came over. They requested multiple times during the week.
11/3/07 update...moved my rating up to 10. My most played kids game this year. This is truly one of his favorites. 1/10/09 update: Only played 7 times in 2008, basically by time my oldest was 4 he stopped playing, but his game playing is reduced overall. This game had a very good run and I got great value out of it. I'm hoping my youngest son will take to it in 6 months or so. |
| filovirus | 10 | 2 | Some | Orchard is a great game for young children. My 2 1/2 year old loves this game. He easily understands all the rules and wants to play it at least once a day. This game is a cooperative game that teachers turn order, minimal counting, and color/shape recognition. The only drawback is that he wants to roll the raven, as he doesn't understand that the raven means losing the game. This is also one of the best produced games for children. The wooden fruit are the perfect size and quality for children, and the die is extra large, but perfect for small hands. |

My daughter loves this game. She enjoys a lot and cries when the dice shows a crow. She wants to play once and once. In addition, you can play either cooperative or competitive mode.
I highly recommend you this game for kids between two and four years old.

| shawndumas | 10 | 3 | No | It's HABA which means great components! This is a great small kids game. Pre-teens and teens will hate it. My kids (4 and 6) really like this game. No half naked women, gore, cursing, or morbidity. |
| alkaiser | 9 | 3 | Some | This is one of the best cooperative games my kids have played. As is typical with many Haba games, the pieces are very nice and will hold up to years of play. The gameplay is simple enough for kids just learning their colors to play fairly well but the tension generated during play is enough to keep slightly older kids engaged. |
| Bosaiya | 9 | 3 | Some | We got the travel edition for no particular reason. It's very nice and can be packed around to places without difficulty.
We also have the problem of our 3y.o. wanting to get the raven, but we do the whole Oh no, not the Raven! The raven is scaaaaarrrryyy! thing and sometimes that helps. Sometimes it makes him want it that much more.
It also makes him hungry to play with all that fruit! |
| noisycrow | 9 | 3 | Some | At 2.5 years old, one of my daughter's favorites. This is the game that taught her how to roll the die and interpret the results. It doesnt hurt that the pieces are terrific. I wish I had gone ahead and bought the floor version! |
| brafman | 8 | | | My 3 year old likes this game a lot. Great bits. Its nice that there is no winner and lower amongst the players; either we all beat the bird puzzle, or we dont. He often wants to play several games in a row; I get sick of playing the game as an adult long before he does. |
| Jatoha | 8 | 3 | Some | Beautiful cooperative game similar to Hi Ho Cherrio! but has a definite ending. Would be a perfect first game for young children. |
| swaits | 8 | | | This works pretty well with my grandson. We played it with him when he was about 2.5 years of age. He really had a blast playing this with us. Occasionally, he would attempt to take an extra fruit, and we would correct him; a positive learning experience. Sometimes it was a bit hard to get him through a whole game of this. Still, for this age, I cannot imagine doing much better than than this game. |
