klarkin84Some Our daughter, at 3 1/2, picked up pretty quickly how to zoom around the board. She sometimes would have trouble prioritizing her moves and would take the scenic route, but for the most she understood what to do. Since she is so young, we play that you keep your own deck, and on your turn you flip over the top card in your deck, and that establishes your goal. At her age, it takes some handicapping at times to keep her competitive- we have to play that the blocking rules don't apply to her. She wore out her patience with this game much quicker than with many of her others.
spearjr8  Good planning game for kids. Very colorful and a fun theme.
alkaiser75Yes Nice route planning game. Nice colorful pieces that kids love. The movement aspect of the game is fairly easy so young kids can pick it up but figuring out what cards to pass and why might require some more cutthroat play. How kids handle this is mostly a function of how many games they've played in the past.
cindy76Some A very good family game. A fair amount of strategy to play well.

m_hamburg7  Played this with the six-year-old daughter of a friend. She enjoyed it, and it was fun for adults, but the strategy was a bit beyond her. Might be better for slightly older kids.
mi_de7  Son at 4 plays this, and amazed to see the planning he can do, but he is not so good at choosing the card to give the next player. 20 minutes. Will see some good playtime before this one is exhausted.
Thies75Some Kids can probably play at younger than 5, but would have problem with the strategy of doling out cards. A fun game that has real strategy, but not so much that kids can't keep up or get frustrated. Pirate theme is always a plus with kids too.
ubarose7  A treasure collecting game which requires you to carefully plan your route. Capt Clever is as challenging as your opponents are skilled. A good game for children to play against other children, but also can hold some interest for adults as well.
wkusau76Yes Good game for younger kids. It gets a little boring for older ones.
goldenboat6  We liked it but the kids did not ask to play again.
RPardoe66 My daughter has liked this game for a few years now. The game can lock up in that no player wants to move as it gives another player the advantage. Younger kids probably won't see this as they just race around the board. My 8 year old daughter is now seeing this so the gloss is coming off the game. Still likes to play though.
Scammer65Some Not a bad abstract (which it really is, hidden behind a pirates theme). It's a 3-4 player game, so watch out for that. Fairly simple mechanic (move a boat between islands, then move a pirate across islands, gather 9 pieces of treasure). There is a screw your neighbor aspect to the game that the kids will eventually grasp. Bits are nice (wooden pirates and ships) but the board is a bit on the small side. Small box makes it nice to fit into the closet. As far as abstracts go, this game isn't bad.
