| glsonn | 8 | 7 | Yes | Younger children may not pick up on all the strategies available, but they will still have a great time playing with the tiles, walls, and meeples. Good fine motor coordination is a plus but not absolutely necessary when handling each of the bits. The most difficult task would be placing a meeple on a wall, something all but the most uncoordinated should be able to do.
Playing with an adult at least the first time would be a great help for understanding the rules and rounds of play. The concept of 3 fairly distinct rounds may be new to younger children. After a few games, children should be able to handle these aspects on their own.
If this seems like too much for the young ones, start with the basic Carcassonne game (sold separately) and work your way up to this slightly more complex version. |

| wyldeoad | 8 | 8 | Yes | The turn-by-turn play would be easily picked-up by kids 8 and older. Some of the longer range planning, less so as there are a number of areas and ways score to watch at the same time. There is a fun tension as you try to build your roads, areas, and walls to maximize your own score and thwart your opponents efforts. It also is fun to see the city unfold and you end up with a very attractive play space with the tiles and city walls. Fun for kids and adults. |
| maksum | 7 | 7 | Yes | Played this with my 7 year old. I gave him no help, only reminders on placement rules here and there. He ended up beating me. I think this is a good one for kids about 7 or 8 and older. It was over my 5-year-old's head. |
| shawndumas | 7 | 9 | Some | Some younger kids might not get all of it but will have fun. No half naked women, gore, cursing, or morbidity. |

| wkusau | 7 | 9 | Yes | This is a good game for kids. Tile laying and wall building are important. Realizing the consequences of building the wall may be hard for younger kids. |
