| Mike A | 8 | 6 | Some | I hated Pokemon at first, but it has grown on me. My son loves it and would play it regularly with his friends. At times he would talk me into it. Over time I grew to appreciate it and now have my own deck to use when playing him. I can see the appeal of it and we have had some pretty intense games, but it takes a lot of time invested to really enjoy it. If you can control the urge to buy, buy, buy that somes with collectible card games, it can be a very fun game. |
| robingoblin | 8 | 6 | Yes | This is how my older son learned to read at 5 years old. He could play the game (though not well!) at six and was a solid player by seven. |
| rootbeer | 8 | 7 | Yes | I'm not fond of the collectibility, but the game itself is quite enjoyable. For kids it's a cool theme, with nice graphics. |
| helenoftroy | 6 | 7 | Yes | This card game is somewhat like a children's light and fluff version of Magic. Unfortunately, it can get too one sided because so much relies on the luck of the draw. But, the rules are straight forward and mostly printed on the battle mat or card. And, It encourages good sportsmanship in the rules because a handshake is printed on the mat as a part of the beginning of the game. |
| lclaxvp | 6 | 6 | Some | I remember playing this game when I was younger and having a really good time. The cards had nice Pokemon pictures along with decent (albeit wordy) powers/descriptions. But, the game really burns a whole into the parents pockets and the cards seem to have become flimsier in it's present years. Another negative is the collectiable aspect where you never know what cards you will receive.
