| fortgary | 9 | 8 | Yes | Zooloretto is a very solid choice for everyone. It has the cute animal depictions which adults and children alike will enjoy. It has a very healthy dose of back-stabbing possibilities but it also encourages forward planning skills which kids many times need to develop further. In the 8-13 age group this was a solid game and it only gets better as the players get older. |
| Yollege | 9 | 7 | Yes | Amazing board game version of Coloretto. My 8 yr old took to it quickly, and even though he lost, played well. I think it was more my wife's good play than his bad play that won it for her. Like Yspahan & Thief of Baghdad, a wonderful family game, and very worthy of the SDJ victory. Possibly my favorite of the group! Great because a kid down to 7 or 8 can play well, so it will bring years of enjoyment. |
| boltongeordie | 8 | 7 | Yes | Still not sure about this one. Is it just an over-complicated (over-produced perhaps) version of Coloretto? That being said, Coloretto is a great game for kids and animals in a zoo is a great theme for kids so I cant be too harsh on it. |
| corross | 8 | 7 | Yes | This is a good family game -- I've played it with my nearly 8 year old and 5.5 year old, and we enjoyed it.
My principal reservation -- which will not be relevant for lots of others, I'm sure, and thus did not impact my rating of the game overall -- is that playing this game well seems to me to involve a fairly hefty dose of take that in the form of actively trying to thwart the plans of your fellow players. Among my brood, plan-thwarting by siblings or parents often does not go over so well, emotionally speaking. Played correctly , this game can be vicious. Played in a kind and gentle manner, it's rather dull.
For groups who enjoy the take that element, I think this is a wonderful family game. For us, I suspect it won't get a whole lot of play until the kids are old enough to enjoy games played that way. |
| craniac | 8 | 6 | Yes | Straight from Desi, who is six: I like it cause you can...have baby animals and, um, I like the farms and the little board you can get by yourself and you can win the game.
I agree that some times you feel like the game is playing you a little, but it is always close. We are discovering strategies still. |
| regai | 8 | 7 | Yes | This is a fun game for both kids and adults. My niece loves the zoo theme and I enjoy the subtle strategies. And who can resist the baby panda?
This is a must for your kids. |
| RPardoe | 8 | 7 | Yes | Daughter did well playing against 4 adults and enjoying herself. And we have played quite a few 2P games as well. The basic concept is pretty straight forward to explain to kids. The artwork is an added bonus with its cute animals and infant babies. I think that scoring tends to be close in the game (basic 23 points for filling the 3 primary enclosures) with small variations due to the vending carts and animals in the barn. While this may put some folks off, I think it helps when playing with kids as no one is really out of it at the end. Always a close game. |
| sanjaysub | 8 | 8 | Yes | My 7yo had some trouble learning the game. Had to be coached through his choices each time. But older than 8 this is a great game. |
| Yokiboy | 8 | 9 | Yes | Zooloretto is a good game, great even, but it requires adult supervision. Teens should have no trouble playing this by themselves, but pre-teens and younger definitely need assistance.
It's a fun game of zoo-building and management using the Cooloretto system. I recommend this as a family game. |
| Larry Welborn | 7 | 6 | Yes | 6 and younger can play with some coaching. 7 or 8 and above should be able to play well without assistance. |

| wkusau | 7 | 8 | Yes | The game works but I am not a fan. I have the feeling the game is playing the players. I know most others disagree so try it for yourself. |
| tiggle | 6 | 10 | Some | Very smart 8 1/2 year old daughter who loves animals is bored stiff by this game. Very disappointing. Can't figure out what the hype is all about. Even the art isn't all that great . . . rather fuzzy pictures on the animal tiles. Daughter liked Coloretto until we got this game. Now she doesn't like either game. |
