| cagriggs | 10 | 4 | Yes | A Christmas present to my five-year-old this past year and it has been a major hit. He loves the theme (being chased by a ghost) and enjoys being able to get other players when he rolls the ghost. The game is simple enough for him to play well but has enough to it to make the game enjoyable for parents to play with their kids. Highly recommend. |
| cindy | 10 | 5 | Yes | Children love this theme and it has enough tension to keep them engaged. Adults would never play this without children but it is fun playing the game with them |
| Ed the Red | 10 | | | Very enjoyable to play with the children, with some decent decision making to be made but also plenty of luck, dice rolling and screams of anguish/delight as you are caught by Hugo the Ghost. We play it quite frequently and it works well with any number of players (even 2). |

| m_hamburg | 10 | | | Very popular when I have played this with kids. The theme is great, and there is some strategy here. If you can find the Amigo German version, the art on that one is much nicer than the older Ravensburger version (and the game is totally language independent). |
| alkaiser | 9 | 4 | Yes | Getting away from Hugo is a lot of fun for my kids. The game scales very well over the possible range of players. It is easy to teach and plays quickly. Kids as young as 4 yrs old can play fairly easily. There are a few fiddly rules that might give younger kids a hard time (certain rooms need an exact roll to get in and the winner is the player with the least negative score) but these are easy to fix for the younger crowd. |
| Hells Bells | 9 | 4 | Yes | A good fun game for kids. Ours love chanting Hugo, Hugo as the ghost advances round the board. Perhaps a bit too much luck involved - there's not a lot you can do to help the younger ones if they're losing hands down, but hey, it teaches them the value of just playing for the fun of it! |
| sosullivan | 9 | | | Very nice with kids, and one adults can enjoy playing with the kids |
| spielguy | 9 | 4 | Yes | A good game that scales very well. If your child can count to five then she can play this game. Scoring does require a bit more math since you are adding in double digits.
My 7 year old son cried when Hugo caught him. He just wouldn't (and still doesn't ) buy the story that we are playing hide and seek. |
| Doomfarer | 8 | 4 | Some | Watch out for the ghost. Kids like it but the scoring system is weird. |

| Germarish | 8 | | | One of the better role and move games. After one game your kids will be shouting Hugo, Hugo, Hugo! |
| Sprydle | 8 | 4 | Yes | Fun Push Your Luck game which kids who like 'scary themes will love--the ghost is not really scary except if your child already has a fear of such things. At age 3.5 our daughter played with us, but not on her own, still an enjoyable experience for all. We tried again when she was closer to 4, but she lost interest about 2/3s of the way through. The decision-making is very simple and I don't find it quite as interesting as a game which can be played even younger like Max. |
| davebo | 7 | | | Fun game, but beware, my 6- and 7-yo cried when the ghost got them. Now that they are older it goes over better. |
| sandys | 7 | 4 | Some | We got this for my 5-1/2-year-old and he loves it, loves making spooky noises every time the ghost gets moved, and especially loves it when it overtakes his brothers' pieces. However, once all your pieces have been put out or are in rooms, it can get pretty dull waiting for the last couple to either be overtaken by Hugo or get into a room. He is always ready to play again, but there are several games that he likes just as well or more. |
| 122norfolk | 6 | 5 | Some | Very simple game that our children enjoy. It plays quickly and there is just enough tension to keep their interest without causing anxiety about losing. |
| jeremycobert | 5 | | | We played this game with the 4th and 5th graders at the after school club around Halloween time. The kids liked the cute little ghost. It was a game that was fast to learn and quick to play. |
