| LoMa | 7 | 14 | Yes | Khronos is a game that will be a very difficult one to master - it is perhaps the hardest game I have ever played. It is both deep and complex with much to consider in every turn. While the game has a pretty abstract overall feel to it, our family gets a charge over how the sci-fi theme of time-travel is integrated into the game mechanics with its temporal paradoxes, ruins, and time ripples. Having to take into consideration 3 different time eras all at once both strategically and tactically makes it a difficult game to wrap your head around. It is also quite unforgiving. This is not a recipe that makes it appeal to a broad audience, but if you and your kids are the kind of gamers that can appreciate this kind of brain-burner, this may be the perfect game for you. My spouse absolutely HATES this game... Myself and a 14 year old and another 15 year old neighbor love it.
You're likly to find Khronos either be a complete dud or totally cool... or perhaps just a tad too daunting to enjoy even if you do appreciate it. It's therefore very difficult to rate. I've given it a 7 based on how I'd rate with my 14 and 15 year old gaming group - really cool, totally engaging, but a game you can't play casually - you gotta be committed to play a session.
Very prone to analysis paralysis, so many players will need a timer.
