merkle8  Depends on the age--I think 8-9 year old for sure. Theres a bit or reading required on cards, for example. Also, theres a bit to remember in this game, as opposed to regular risk. Some of the pictures on the cards are straight out of the movie and some are pretty scary looking--so beware of that. Also, though the movement of the ring limits how long the game can go on (remember endless games of Risk?)--this can still go on for quite a long time. Kids need an attention span. Some knowledge of the books/movie really needed to make sense of game
